Cocktails
Stirred, shaken, built and blended.
Your drinking companion
A drinks companion for cocktails, wine, beer and spirits. It learns your taste, then tells you whether you'll like something you've never tried.
Coming to iPhone and Android.
Why it exists
So you order the one you know, or trust a star rating from strangers who don't drink like you. Neither answers the only question that matters in that moment.
Will I like it?
What it does
Point your camera at a cocktail list or a wine list. On the Nose reads it, weighs every option against your taste, and tells you which one it would order for you, and why.
Standing in front of a shelf or a back bar? Photograph the label and get a straight answer: go for it, skip it, or worth a try, with the reasoning behind it.
A few taps to note what you had and whether you liked it. It takes seconds, and every log makes the next answer sharper.
When you want to slow down, a guided tasting walks you through the glass one step at a time, in plain language, so you notice more and remember it later.

Every glass
Most drinks apps pick a lane. Your taste doesn't. On the Nose learns from everything you drink, so the smoky mezcal you loved can inform what it suggests from a whisky shelf or a wine list.
Stirred, shaken, built and blended.
Red, white, orange and sparkling.
Crisp lagers to barrel-aged stouts.
Whisky, mezcal, gin, rum and the rest.
Alcohol-free cocktails, beer and spirits.
Your palate, as a portrait
Tap your favorite first, then the next. On the Nose builds a picture of what you go for and gives it a name. Then it keeps sharpening with every glass.

How it actually knows
Log drinks as you have them, add a few favorites, and take a short quiz when you start. Logging is free, always.
Every drink is described in flavors: smoky, citrus, bitter, herbal and more. What you liked pulls those flavors up. What you didn't pushes them down.
Palates change. Recent drinks count for more than ones from a year ago, so your profile moves when you do.
Faced with something new, it compares that drink's flavors to your profile and tells you what it thinks, in words rather than scores. When it's a stretch, it says so.

Where we stand
On the Nose rewards trying new things: a new category, a flavor you didn't expect to like, a palate that keeps widening.
Who made it
On the Nose is designed and built by Ben Hartwig at Hartwig Design Studio, an independent design studio. One person, a lot of tasting notes, and a strong opinion that a drinks app should talk like a friend.
On the Nose is free to download. Logging, your journal and your taste profile are free for good. The free plan includes a few menu and bottle scans and chat messages each month. A paid plan with unlimited scans and chat will follow at $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year.
iPhone and Android. It is launching first in the United States.
Yes. No feed, no followers, no ratings to compare with strangers. Photos you attach to your drinks stay on your phone, and photos you scan are read and thrown away, never stored. There are no ads and no third-party tracking.
